“Learning Locally”-Studies published

It’s the aim of the project “Learning Locally”, to represent the educational landscape of the Rems-Murr-Kreis in a transparent way, to clarify responsibilities, to gather offers and educational institutions, and to coordinate, to network and to facilitate access. IRIS e.V., it covers two areas of the educational landscape in the Rems-Murr-Kreis. These first one is the non-formal and informal education programs in the specific structure of the associational youth work and the second one covers the structures and deals of continuing vocational training in the Rems-Murr-Kreis.

These firstly are the non-formal and informal education programs in the specific structure of the associational youth work and on the other hand the structures and deals of continuing vocational training in the Rems-Murr-Kreis.

Project AdA – Train the Trainer

This project is meant to link research generated knowledge on education and learning with the practice of professional training.

The target of the project are trainers in SMEs especially in the crafts sector,  masters and trainers in the non-profit sector and lower secondary school teachers.

The project supports members of the target groups to develop further their professional competence to empower them to improve education and learning processes for young people with problem-laden school careers. The project consists of
six inter-related modules (only in German). It supports trainers in the different target contexts in reflecting on their everyday practice and thus develop their professional competence.

Make use of intercultural potential

IRIS has been involved in the project ZIP-EQUAL from 2005 to 2008. The project has been dealing with the identification and development of intercultural potential among staff and HR managers in the field of public organisations and SMEs. Under the heading “Make use of intercultural potential”, IRIS has now published a comprehensive report.

Practice Workshops Competence Assessment

IRIS e.V. is the scientific monitoring of the ESF – project “Praxiswerkstatt – Praxisorientierte Berufliche Kompetenzfeststellung” at Offenburg.

The project is a cooperation between the CCI BildungsZentrum and the Gewerbe Akademie Offenburg. It is financed by the ESF, the Federal Employment Agency and the Office of School and Education – Ortenau. The goal of the project is to provide an active support for pupils during the progress of occupational orientation. This is why the project enables a realistic contact with various vocations. In the centre of this is hands-on experience, where pupils shall gain a realistic impression of the respective vocations in order to position their own occupational future. Additionally the systematic survey of teachers, pupils, parents and instructors ought to assist in promoting successful occupational choices in young people.

Development of vocational guidance in Saxony

IRIS is partner in a project commissioned by the Ministry for Economy and Social Affairs of the Free State of Saxony. Together with the University of Hildesheim and IRIS e.V. Dresden, IRIS is working on a study on the future changes in the system of vocational guidance in this region of Germany.

IRIS’ part of the study consists of three international country studies on vocational guidance systems in Austria, Denmark and the UK.

Coordination body of the study is IRIS e.V. Dresden.

International case studies on vocational guidance

Vocational guidance in Saxony

IRIS is in charge of three case studies on European systems of vocational guidance. The overall objective of the study is to approve the cooperation between the education system and the business world in the Land of Saxony.

The study is done in cooperation with Universität Hildesheim and IRIS e.V. Dresden – the latter being in charge of the overall integration of the part studies.

IRIS Tübingen works out three international case studies on national systems of vocational guidance (Austria, Denmark, United Kingdom) which will be fed into the process of developing the regional system further.

The team at IRIS is: Eva-Maria Bub, Eva Ostertag, Barbara Bumbarger und Sibylle Walter. The team is lead by Andreas Walther and Axel Pohl.
